How a Tree Service Can Improve Your Life

Hello! When I moved into my new home, I was really happy with the property and the large garden. However, I was really disappointed to discover that a tree growing in the garden obscured my view of the ocean. I found it really annoying so I asked a friend to refer me to a local tree service. The tree service guys were really great. They assessed the situation and quickly cut down the tree and dealt with the stump that remained. I was so impressed and I learnt so much that I decided to start this blog to offer advice to others.

3 Tree Pruning Mistakes You Avoid When You Hire an Arborist

Tree pruning and trimming are critical if you want to keep your trees healthy, but you must ensure it's done properly. Most people don't benefit a lot from the tree pruning and trimming they do because of the mistakes they make. Tree care shouldn't be left to people with no professional tree care skills. Poor tree trimming and pruning leave the bark infected and deteriorate growth. That's why it's advisable to contact a certified arborist to prune or trim your trees since they know the right equipment to use and the professional skills to apply. Here are the problems you avoid when you call in an arborist to prune or trim your trees:

Poor or Ill Timing

Tree pruning shouldn't be done at any time since its effects on the tree's growth and health are different. Certified arborists know the specific time when tree pruning should be done. However, the right time to prune or trim your trees will depend on the tree species. Do you have some oak trees in your garden? You should know the season when they shouldn't be pruned if you want to avoid oak wilt among other serious tree diseases. Avoid heavy pruning if you discover that the tree branches are stressed. Call in an arborist to inspect your trees to know if they need to be pruned or trimmed.

Excess Pruning

Everyone wants to prune their trees to boost growth and ensure even sunlight distribution. However, some people overdo it without knowing its consequences. Most people don't know when they over-prune their trees until some serious symptoms occur. Trimming more than fifteen percent of the foliage will harm your tree in a big way. The trees won't distribute nutrients and food to the other areas once you remove more of the canopy. The tree branches begin to wilt, and the support system becomes weaker when you do it.

Inappropriate Cuts

Tree pruning or trimming involves cuts, but the cuts should be proper if you want to boost the health of your trees. You destroy the branch collar when you prune or cut the tree branches too close to the trunk. The branch collar contains the special cells the tree needs to heal when cut. Most branch collars are found where the trunk and branch meet, and they appear in the form of bumps. The branches produce callouses, which ensure that certain diseases don't infect the tree. But what happens when the branches are improperly trimmed or cut? You expose the tree to pests that transmit diseases and cause splits on the trunk.

Tree pruning and trimming isn't a simple task as you probably thought. Trimming or pruning trees yourself will cause a lot of problems to your trees even when you think you are doing it the right way. Tree trimming or pruning mistakes will cost you a lot if you aren't careful enough to contact an arborist to do it.
